Roland DG Sponsors NFT Art Exhibition

07/24/2023 Corporate Activities, Events & Tradeshows, Digital Printing

The “Live Like A Cat: NFT Art Exhibition” (organized by Shizuoka Shimbun, Shizuoka Broadcasting System, and Murakami Kaizoku Co., Ltd.), which Roland DG sponsored, was held from July 8 to July 17, 2023 at the co-working space “=ODEN (Equal Oden)” in Aoi-ku, Shizuoka City.

Since last year, Roland DG has been exploring the potential of new technologies, including NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens), through a voluntary project that goes beyond department boundaries to create new business opportunities. As part of that initiative, we sponsored the event held in Shizuoka Prefecture and our dedicated employees participated as staff members.

An event bringing NFTs to life

NFT has been gaining attention as a mechanism to prove ownership of digital artworks. Live Like A Cat (LLAC) is one of the leading NFT projects in Japan, offering 22,222 NFT artworks featuring cats designed by the lead designer, Umuco. At the event, attendees were able to not only experience unique cat artworks and the “Live Like A Cat” lifestyle promoted by LLAC, but also learn how NFT art is created.

The panels, tapestries, window graphics, and other decorations for the venue were created through the collaboration of our users and in-house production using our resin, eco-solvent, and UV inkjet printers. These creations adorned the venue with an abundance of cat-themed decorations.

The wallpaper was printed in-house using the AP-640 resin printer.

On the opening day, July 8, many guests visited the venue, including those who own LLAC NFTs called Nekonushi (Cat owner) and those interested in NFTs. The event offered various attractions such as augmented reality-based exhibitions and NFTs as exclusive bonuses that can be obtained through the LINE messenger app, providing an enjoyable experience for those encountering NFTs for the first time.

Shuhei, the founder of LLAC and representative of Murakami Kaizoku Co., Ltd., stated, “I believe in spreading the culture of enjoying one’s digital art in the real-world using inkjet printers. Because they are digital assets, why not try displaying them in our homes? LLAC aims to expand such a lifestyle.” At a dedicated location, an “NFT Lecture from Scratch” was held on the opening day of the event, where Shuhei introduced case studies and future prospects for NFTs.
