Brand Expression through High Value-Added Printing in China

Shanghai, May 16, 2014 – Roland DG Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and 3D devices, through its subsidiary Roland DG (China) Corporation in Shanghai, announced its sponsorship of an international fashion show hosted by top Chinese designer Ji Cheng and luxury lady shoe brand sheme.

Recognized as one of China's leading designers and influencers, Ji Cheng trained at the Instituto Marangoni in Milan before working at Basic Krizia, Missoni Sport and D'A as a designer and visual director. Ji Cheng founded her eponymous label, La vie by Ji Cheng in 2002, a fashion and lifestyle brand that resonates with the growing population of young, independent women across China and Asia. Currently, Ji Cheng is counted amongst the top designers in China, and her global appeal is quickly rising as she showcases her products around the globe.

sheme, the top Chinese luxury lady shoe, has mixed a creative elegant style with Chinese culture and aesthetic. Last year, sheme made its international debut at London Fashion Week, where the brand’s unique designs took the world by storm.

Ji Cheng chose the LEF-20

Roland DG helped with creating the nearly 600 invitations to the April 10th showcase of the 2014 Fall Winter collection. To capture the concept behind the collection, the invitations were made of acrylic, and traditional Chinese designs were added using the Roland DG LEF-20 UV-LED printer. Each invitation was personalized with the guest’s name and reflected Ji Cheng’s unique style. As a top fashion brand, the invitation makes a crucial first impression. To welcome people around the globe into her world of fashion, Ji Cheng chose the LEF-20.

Ji Cheng had high praise for the company’s printers. "I struggled with how to express the theme of my show: ‘Crane Shadow,’ but Roland DG provided me with an easy solution," said Ji Cheng. "We used acrylic instead of paper for the invitations, but they did an absolutely beautiful job embossing the text and the contours of the illustrations. I am very pleased with how great the invitations turned out using Roland DG printers."

Michael Man, president of Roland DG (China) Corporation is eager about the company’s future development in China. "We have started cultivating the Chinese market with wide-format printers that meet the needs of local signage makers. China’s economic surge in recent years has brought a dramatic rise in interest towards value-added printing, and our printer/cutters and UV-LED printers have gotten a lot of attention across a wide range of industries. Our printer/cutters use metallic and white inks, which allow for wonderfully gorgeous designs, while UV-LED printers go beyond paper and film and can print to materials like cloth and leather. Beginning with the fashion world, we hope to take Roland DG printers and solutions to fields like art and design as a way to express a high value-added brand image."
