Roland and Roland DG Collaborate on Customization of 2nd Anniversary Limited-Edition Sampler at the Roland Store Tokyo
Hamamatsu, Japan, October 1, 2025 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, is excited to announce its collaboration with Roland Corporation at the Roland Store Tokyo 2nd Year Anniversary Event being held Wednesday, October 1 to Friday, October 31. The production of custom-designed panels for the Roland Corporation’s popular SP-404MKII sampler will be distributed exclusively during the event.
Roland offers a wide range of innovative digital equipment, from electronic musical instruments, including digital pianos, electronic drums, and synthesizers, to professional audio/video equipment such as digital mixers. Its high-quality and creative solutions are widely used by customers around the world, from renowned musicians and creators to amateur users.
This event celebrates the second anniversary of Roland Corporation’s flagship Roland Store Tokyo. Highlights include a display of the new TR-1000 rhythm machine, accompanied by a special talk session where the development team will share insights into its development process. Additionally, customers who purchase an SP-404MKII, the company’s popular sampler capable of recording and replaying a wide variety of sounds, at the store during the event will receive one of two limited-edition custom-designed faceplates, available in limited quantities. Roland DG collaborated on the production of these faceplates using their VersaOBJECT MO-240 direct-to-object printer.
“Roland Store Tokyo opened in October 2023 as a flagship store where customers can experience the fun and excitement of creating music and the world of the Roland brand,” said Satofumi Hashimoto, Roland's Retail Office Manager, who is hosting the event. The store is decorated with lighting and images like a live stage, and the latest music-related equipment, including electronic musical instruments, are all on display. Resident product specialists provide detailed explanations of their functions and how to use them.
Mr. Hashimoto continued, “To mark the store’s second anniversary, we decided to customize the highly popular SP-404MKII. beloved by DJs and creators, available exclusively at this event. To delight Roland fans, we prepared two types of commemorative faceplates: one featuring a Roland Store Tokyo design, and another inspired by our iconic JUPITER-8 synthesizer. Roland DG’s UV printer was an essential part of this project. It allows for high-definition direct printing on metal, which is difficult for ordinary inkjet printers. Furthermore, it faithfully reproduced the vivid orange and red tones that are symbolic of these faceplates.”
Taichi Nakamura of the Global Sales & Marketing Division of Roland DG Corporation, who managed the collaboration, said, “Our company was founded in 1981 as a Roland Corporation group company, alongside the music division. Although we are now separate companies, we still both seek to “Inspire the Enjoyment of Creativity” as one of our shared slogans, while we provide people around the world with products that bring their ideas to life, as well as the “wow” and excitement which result from it. We are thrilled to collaborate with Roland in bringing customized music devices to many more people through our digital printing technology.”
