12/11/2025 Corporate Activities, Digital Printing

Using one of our PB-400/PB-600 powder 3D printers, architect and designer Mr. Keiji Ashizawa created a pendant light fixture. The process was introduced in CONFORT, a magazine specializing in interior design and architecture. At the publication event, Mr. Ashizawa talked about the process of making the pendant light with the powder 3D printer.

Illuminating the capabilities of the powder 3D printer

The publication event was held in late September at the KARIMOKU RESEARCH CENTER in Tokyo. At the talk show, Mr. Ashizawa discussed his feature article in the CONFORT magazine and the importance of lighting to enjoying a comfortable life while citing his various design work. Regarding the powder 3D printer, he said, “I was shocked that it could be done in such a way. The pendant fixture and its light were beautiful, and I think we were able to create something good.” He added, “I value the inspiration I get from materials,” and explained that he was inspired by ceramics made by powder 3D printers.

Displaying the pendant light

The pendant light produced by Mr. Ashizawa with a powder 3D printer was exhibited at the Karimoku Commons Tokyo showroom near the KARIMOKU RESEARCH CENTER. In a room decorated with sophisticated interior products, the pendant light harmonized with the space. Mr. Ashizawa’s design proved that 3D powder printers could create something beautiful for high-level interior decor.

An autograph session was also held at Karimoku Commons Tokyo. Mr. Ashizawa signed CONFORT magazine copies while exchanging words with the participants under the printed pendant light. Participants received Mr. Ashizawa’s autograph while bathing in the gentle and beautiful light of the pendant fixture. Some people touched the light to check its texture.
