Training for new employees in 2023

New Employees Explore Roland DG Business During 2023 Training

04/28/2023 Corporate Activities

During the training period in April, the new employees of 2023 learned about the company’s structure and business on a daily basis. In this blog post, we would like to introduce the practical training on our Digital Printing and DGSHAPE businesses.

Digital Printing business training

On April 20, we conducted a training session on the Digital Printing business, focusing mainly on inkjet printers. During the lecture, new employees learned about the basics of inkjet printers, including hardware, software, and ink, and about the business models of customers who sell printed materials. Employees responsible for product and market development served as lecturers and introduced the thoughts and efforts put into development.

After the lecture, a product experience session was held where new employees deepened their knowledge by using the products themselves. As a new endeavor this year, second-year employees were put in charge of planning and operating the experience session. The new employees experienced making one-of-a-kind items using the LEF2-300 benchtop flatbed UV printer and the latest BN-20D Direct-To-Film (DTF transfer) desktop inkjet printer, and also learned how to apply graphics printed by the VG3-540 inkjet printer/cutter to a table.

DGSHAPE business training

On April 21, we conducted training on DGSHAPE’s business, which focused primarily on digital tools for the dental and 3D fabrication markets. The training covered the basics of digital fabrication tools, as well as business development, product development, and their latest initiatives.

After the lecture, there was a product experience session led by senior employees. The new employees experienced creating one-of-a-kind items using laser decorators and photo impact printers. They operated the digital tools with the help of user manuals and advice from senior employees to turn their ideas into reality.

Growth through Business Training

After completing the business training, new employees expressed their gratitude to senior employees who organized the experience sessions, stating that they enjoyed a fulfilling experience that allowed them to truly feel the Roland DG slogan, “Inspire the Enjoyment of Creativity.” Even employees who were anxious about handling large products were able to operate them smoothly thanks to the careful guidance of senior employees.

For next year, this year’s new employees are planning to organize the product experience sessions. They are determined to create a program that will excite the next new employees, while the senior employees send their encouragement, hoping that the new employees will continue to actively experience the products even after they have been assigned to their respective departments.
Through the business training, the new employees were able to experience the fun of using the products and feel the passion put into their development. The senior employees were also able to deepen their knowledge of the products and strengthen bonds with their colleagues through planning and operating the product experience sessions. This provided opportunities for growth for both the new and senior employees.
